INTENSITY SINGS NATIONAL HYMN @ THE BIG DOME
July 9, 2006 was truly momentous for INTENSITY as they rendered with musical blending the Philippine national anthem, “Lupang Hinirang,” during the culminating ceremony of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
The three (3) voice harmony arranged by promising composer Edwin Marollano has tamed down the uncontrollable crowd during their live acapella rendition of the hymn. The big dome Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City, was packed full of screaming fans of the competing teams, Red Bull and Purefoods Chunkee Cornbeef.
Prior to the official ceremony, several performances and cheering numbers were executed including the promo of Intensity’s self-titled album. The group first sang the upbeat cut “Ayoko Na” backed-up by Girls and Boys Unlimited Dancers followed by the carrier single “Kahit Pa Ano”. The group was also given a thirty (30) seconds live plugging during the half-time break of the game aired at ABC Channel 5.
“The group has a nice blending of voices, given a sufficient exposure, the group can make a career now that boybands are very rare in local showbiz arena, they can trigger a good competition and make AKAFELLAS a run for their money” according to John, PBA talent coordinator. For your information, AKAFELLAS is also an all-male vocal group composed of 8 members doing acapella singing that is presently existing. He also added that PBA will book them in the next season come last quarter of this year.
Intensity was overwhelmed and certainly inspired by this comment from an authority of talent coordination open to different elements of entertainment. If you want to prove it, watch them on July 14, 2006, Friday at SM City Bacoor in Cavite.
